How to use a QR code at a trade show

A QR code works best when the visitor knows what they will get after scanning. “Scan to book a demo”, “Scan for specifications” or “Scan to get the show offer” is stronger than displaying a code with no context. Link directly to the useful destination rather than forcing people through several menu pages.

Make it physically easy to scan

Use a large code, high contrast and enough white space around it. Do not place it so low that people need to crouch or so high that it is awkward to frame with a phone. Test the final print from several normal viewing distances and with both iPhone and Android devices if available.

Plan for poor venue connectivity

The QR itself may scan perfectly while the destination loads slowly on a crowded venue network. Keep critical information available on your stand and consider a short memorable URL as a backup. For lead capture, keep a paper form available as well.
